SF6 is an inert gas mixture with excellent dielectric properties, and it has been widely applied on very high voltage parts such as Gas-Insulated Switchgears (GIS) in order to reduce its size or increase the working voltage. SF6 also has a high contribution for the Greenhouse Effect so its use is deeply regulated. As well as being damaging to the environment, SF6 is heavier than air and inside GIS rooms may cause asphyxia when leaks occur.
Eneida’s SF6 Monitoring System allows an automatic local and remote warning if any leakage happens as well as automatic activation of the Ventilation. Several sensor’s are located close to the GIS. Local warnings by traffic lights and buzzers are fixed in the entries doors and ventilators are strategically located to guarantee quickly air renovation, when needed. Warnings are automatically transmitted to the PLC, Scada and to remote users.
