Eneida awarded in the KIC InnoEnergy Iberia
- On 2016-01-15
KIC InnoEnergy, the innovation engine for the energy industry in Europe, announced that Eneida Wireless & Sensors won third prize in the second annual edition of KIC InnoEnergy Iberia. The aim of the competition is to find startups in the sustainable energy area with great potential, with social and environmental impact in Portugal and Spain.
The innovative Eneida project aims at optimizing the low voltage networks and is based on an smart wireless sensor network, robust, low cost, very low power consumption (based on energy harvesting or self-powered) and very easy to install (live). The network is integrated with a collaborative platform and specific algorithms to optimize these assets, which cover the main variables and the Distribution System Operators needs in this area: voltage and current, state of fuses, ground systems, link boxes, theft/access, flood, ventilation, ambient and transformer temperature and humidity.
There are over 4 million secondary distribution substations (part of a Low Voltage Network) in Europe alone, and given the increasing importance of this network for the development of Renewable Energy, Electric Vehicle and Smart Meters, this optimization has to be made in an extremely efficient and effective way, as it is guaranteed by the Eneida solution. The main goal of Eneida Wireless & Sensors is to help Electric Utilities optimize, remotely and online, the condition and operation of their critical assets.
About the finalists, Ken Morse, Chairman and CEO of Entrepreneurship Ventures Inc., MIT board member and keynote speaker at the event, said “the overall quality of the companies and their presentations, which now saw, were world class. It’s amazing how the team KIC InnoEnergy has been relentless, recruiting more and more high quality talents, which subsequently guide to excellence. ”
